Minister clarifies road closure

by isleofman.com 14th June 2007
Transport Minister David Anderson has been explaining the reasons behind the closure of the Mountain Road, for up to two weeks, from next Monday.

The closure is needed for essential resurfacing work, which has to be carried out in plenty of time for the Manx Grand Prix, and was explained in a recent media release.

However, Mr Anderson (pictured) is clarifying the fact the road will only be closed between 9.30am and 4.30pm and complete closure is essential because of the nature of the work (audio file attached):

The main part of the work will involve 'surface dressing' one third of the 18 kilometres between Ramsey and the Creg Ny Baa, specifically the 2.5 kilometres from the Goose Neck to Guthrie's, and the 3.5 kilometres from Windy Corner to the Creg.
