Liberal Vannin public meeting

by isleofman.com 14th June 2007
The public’s being urged to make its feelings known over proposals for a publicly elected Legislative Council.

MHKs last month debated several clauses of the Constitution Bill and voted in favour of creating eight 'regional' constituencies.

However, there remains much concern that Council members with much larger constituencies would lead to a more powerful body than the House of Keys.

The central branch of the Liberal Vannin Party will hold its latest meeting at the Christian Science Church in Douglas this evening (Thursday).

South Douglas MHK, Bill Malarkey (pictured), says members of the public are welcome to voice any concerns:

The meeting at the Christian Science Church in Woodbourne Road starts at 8pm.
