Child seats to become law

New laws come into force on 1st July governing the use of car safety seats and booster cushions.

This means that any child UNDER 12 years old and 4 feet 5 inches tall must use an appropriate device, and children OVER 12 must use either an adult seatbelt or a safety device appropriate to their height and weight.

The legislation has been in force in the UK since September.

Road Safety Manager Gordon Edwards says the Department of Transport has important advice for the parents of children of all ages:
