Philippines independence day

It is an important day for members of the Isle of Man's 700-strong Filipino community.

109 years ago to the day the country was granted independence from Spain, which had ruled the Islands for well over 300 years.

The occasion will be marked by a cultural celebration at the Broadway Baptist Church in Douglas, featuring singing, dancing and poetry, following by a buffet of traditional dishes.

One of the organisers, Peen Doherty says they are a close-knit community and this evening's gathering will be a special occasion for everybody involved:
