Carers Week

The Isle of Man's dedicated army of carers are in the spotlight - in national Carers Week.

It's thought around 10,000 people with a serious illness or disability are looked after by friends or family here.

Many of those carers provide an unpaid, around-the-clock service with little help.

Their value is immesurable - as without them, the DHSS simply could not cope.

John McLaughlan looks after his wife Irene full-time at their home in Onchan after she suffered several strokes. He says his life and their relationship have changed forever:
