Call for Steam Packet committee

The service provided by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company in return for its exclusive 'user agreement' with Government could be looked at by a Tynwald committee.

At next week's sitting of the Court, Onchan Peter Karran (pictured) will ask whether the agreement continues to serve the public interest, whether such agreements can or should be terminated, and whether alternative sea transport services are desirable.

He will suggest a committee be set up to examine the issues, but he doesn't expect his motion to get very far:
