Bid to protect Kirk Michael coastline

by isleofman.com 9th June 2007
A bid to protect Kirk Michael coastline from coastal erosion is to go before Tynwald later this month.

The Department of Transport is seeking approval for an order that will allow them to monitor the village coastline and regularly survey for erosion.

The order refers to the land lying between the Glen Balleira stream and the Glen Wyllin stream and lying above the foreshore.

There’s currently no provision within the department’s budget or Government’s capital programme to undertake coastline management works, however the Department will undertake annual surveys to ascertain the rate of erosion.
