Decision soon on public inquiry

by isleofman.com 6th June 2007
An announcement is expected next week on whether the Draft Strategic Plan for the Island will be the subject of a second public inquiry.

The Department of Local Government and the Environment met on Monday to consider submissions on the proposals, and now has to decide whether an independent inspector should again be invited to examine the many issues raised.

The alternative to a public inquiry would be the presentation to Tynwald of the department's own recommendations, without an inspector getting involved.

A second inquiry would only consider issues raised since the first one was held, in 2005.
