LegCo election bill

An attempt to have future Legislative Council elections completed in one sitting has reached its clauses stage in the House of Keys.

If approved, Rushen MHK Phil Gawne’s private members bill would ensure there'd be no repeat of the eight rounds of voting it took to recently fill two vacant seats on the upper chamber.

However, he accepts that could lead to a significant number of ballots on one day:
