Limited access to prison doctor

by isleofman.com 30th May 2007
A recent report from the Chief Inspector of Prisons criticised the current access to a doctor at Victoria Road jail.

Currently consultations with the prison doctor must be made during office hours. It is planned that out of hours cover will be given in the same way as patients in the community.

At the moment responsibility for healthcare in the prison is changing hands from the Department of Home Affairs to the Department of Health and Social Security.

Most of the problems are expected to be sorted out in this time.
