No land swap in Kirk Michael

The Michael MHK is delighted with the Department of Education's decision to drop a proposed land swap in Kirk Michael.

David Cannan (pictured) said a public consultation in the village, where 78% were against the plan, showed the local population was strongly opposed to it.

If it'd gone ahead, the department would've exchanged a patch of land with Heritage Homes, which wanted to build 90 homes on it and a roundabout at Douglas Road Corner.

The area gained by the department would've been used to increase outdoor facilities for the school.

Mr Cannan says the decision to shelve the plans was a truly democratic one:
