MLC unimpressed by abstainers

The newly member of Legislative Council says the drawn-out process which led to his election may have damaged public confidence in Manx politics.

Juan Turner took the seat in the eighth round of voting last week, after members of the Keys failed to agree on any of the candidates in previous rounds.

On Manx Radio's Sunday Opinion yesterday Mr Turner (pictured) said some members refused to vote for anyone.

But he can't understand what they were trying to achieve:
