Battle of Britain Memorial Flight

by isleofman.com 25th May 2007
There is a chance to see a unique spectacle over Douglas bay this weekend.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, featuring a Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Hurricane, will be in action from 1pm on Saturday.

The aircraft will fly in from Blackpool for a 15-20 minutes performance.

The Hurricane taking part in the display was the last one ever built, constructed at Langley in Buckinghamshire in 1944.

The venture is a joint initiative between the Manx Aviation and Military Museum at Ronaldsway and the Department of Tourism and Leisure.

Andy Arnold, one of the officials of the Ronaldsway-based museum, will be the controller and his position on Douglas Head will enable him to liase with the pilots.
