'Poll offensive' - TT commentator

by isleofman.com 25th May 2007
A sweepstake on an internet forum site that asked members to predict how many people will die during this year’s TT has been branded 'offensive and sick'.

The poll on Manx forums dot com was entitled 'I’ll name that death toll in one' and asked people to guess how many locals, visitors and competitors would die in the centenary festival.

But stories in the local media made the organisers think again about the idea, and the sweepstake was removed.

Manx Radio TT commentator Chris Kinley (pictured) says he’s been personal friends with many riders who’ve died on the course.

He says although he can understand people being concerned about the number of casualties, to make a game of it trivialises tragedy (audio file attached):

Chris Kinley was speaking before the poll was removed.
