MHK's 'own goal' over LegCo

by isleofman.com 25th May 2007
Chief Minister Tony Brown believes proposed changes to the Legislative Council could prove to be an own goal by MHKs.

Commenting on this week's House of Keys debate, Mr Brown says electing eight MLCs from large constituencies would be a mistake.

He believes that instead of keeping the Keys as the Island’s political powerhouse in Tynwald, the MLCs would have large public mandates.

Mr Brown (pictured) says, in effect, the Legislative Council would be populated by super-MHKs.
