Anger after competitors turned away from Ferry

by isleofman.com 24th May 2007
It's reported several T.T. riders, teams and their trailers were refused travel on yesterday afternoon's sailing from Heysham.

Around 50 were turned away from the Isle of Man Steam Packet ferry they believed was just for competitors, even though they had booked well in advance.

Manx Radio has received several calls from visitors who have been sent letters in recent days informing them of changes to their departures.

Manx Team boss Martin Bullock says it's not good enough:-

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has issued the following statement this morning:-

"We apologise for this situation. At mid pm yesterday there were 26 vehicles and their owners still in Heysham that were unable to travel. They were given the option to travel on the 01:00 from Liverpool.

The 23rd, 24th and 25th were designated as Motorcycle Club dates but the 1st come 1 served basis that is explained at the time of booking still applied.

We are endeavouring to accomodate all our customers and ensure they travel over for the TT period."
