Land swap meeting today

by isleofman.com 17th May 2007
Residents and parents in Kirk Michael are invited to see for themselves the latest plans for a so-called 'land swap' between a developer and the primary school in the village.

The Department of Education has been approached by Heritage Homes with a suggestion that the Department would give up land to the south of the school in return for a bigger area to the north and east.

This would allow the provision of a proper football pitch to the rear of the school together with a new playground, and give space for possible future expansion of the school.

In return Heritage Homes would receive land which be more readily developed for housing in the village. The firm wants to build 90 new homes on around 13 acres of land.

Locals roundly rejected similar proposals last year - a public presentation is being made the school today (Thurs) from 3pm until 7.30 pm - and is open to all.
