Biker dies on Verandah

by isleofman.com 15th May 2007
A motorcyclist has died following an accident on the Verandah section of the Mountain Road yesterday afternoon (Mon).

The rider was visiting the Island from Kent.

The incident happened at around 4:20pm and involved three vehicles.

The yellow and black bike was travelling towards Douglas when it collided lightly with a Peugeot car travelling in the opposite direction. The bike, which was then out of control, continued along the road before crashing heavily into the rear of a stationary Fiat van and trailer which was stopped at roadworks.

Police say a number of people stopped to help, and they would like anyone who left the scene before giving their details to an officer to get in touch.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen any of the vehicles involved in the accident prior to the collision.

Anyone who may be able to help with enquiries into the accident is asked to ring police headquarters on 631 212.
