by isleofman.com 14th May 2007
A Russian national has been given an eight week prison sentence and excluded from the Island for 5 years by the High Bailiff, after admitting a charge of affray.

43 year old Risats Nagajevs, of Empress Drive, Douglas, punched David Livesey, who had allegedly made insulting comments about his nationality.

The two men had been drinking vodka on Douglas promenade with another man when the incident occurred on April the 15th.

Nagajevs' advocate, Sue Griffin, said the defendent was very sorry for what he'd done.

He had come to the Island to see his daughter, who lived here.

He had a job and a permit and she urged for him not to be deported.
