Footballers locked out

by isleofman.com 10th May 2007
A football club has expressed dismay after its junior players were left without changing facilities.

The problem emerged on Tuesday evening when St Mary's under 15’s A team arrived at Groves Road only to find the changing rooms were locked.

Players were forced to change at the side of the pitch and after the match, the closing stages of which was played in torrential rain, the youngsters had to change back into wet clothes.

Douglas Corporation, which owns the pitch, has pledged to resolve the matter.

Junior teams are currently charged a discounted rate of ?17 to use the pitch only, as youngsters are expected to turn up for games already in their kits.

South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey (pictured) says he will speak to the Corporation. (clip 2)
