Minister backs Archallagan

by isleofman.com 8th May 2007
Local Government Minister John Shimmin says he's convinced that the Archallagan site is the right place for an all Island strategic landfill site.

New plans have been submitted for the facility, which is around half the capacity of the original plan, approved in 2003 following a public enquiry, although it will occupy the same amount of space, around 8% of the plantation.

Mr Shimmin says he realises there will still be public opposition to the site, but he believes the new Archallagan plan represents the best compromise for all.
