Keys fails LegCo again

The House of Keys has failed for the seventh time to elect a new member of the Legislative Council.

Of the three candidates Energy FM boss Juan Turner received 11 votes, the Head of the Isle of Man Banks Premier Banking Division,David Saunders, received 4 votes, and former police inspector Derek Nicholson received 3 votes.

Speaker of the House Keys Steve Rodan has made a new ruling that Alan Crowe who was elected to the other vacant seat earlier this year will now serve the longer of the two available terms to 2010.

Whoever now fills second vacancy will only serve until 29th Feb next year.

Fresh nominations for the position must be in by 5pm this Friday, and the eighth vote will be taken at the next available sitting of the House of Keys.
