Walkers watch out for ground nests

The ground nesting season is underway and walkers are being reminded of regulations in place to protect birds.

From now until July, certain species of birds will lay their eggs on beaches in the north of the Island.

The presence of people or dogs can lead birds to leave their eggs and chicks, or they can be trampled on.

Walkers are advised to walk close to the sea or the heath, and keep dogs under control.

Intentionally disturbing or harming the birds can result in a fine of five thousand pounds under the Manx Wildlife Act.
