Accidental death verdict

by isleofman.com 3rd May 2007
The Coroner has recorded a verdict of accidental death at the inquest of a 33 year old Douglas woman.

Lisa Butterfield was rushed into Noble's hospital in June last year, after her partner woke up and discovered her struggling to breathe in bed.

She was found to be deeply unconscious and after carrying out numerous tests, doctors began treating her for a suspected infection.

However, she suffered multiple system failure and died on June the 10th.

According to Coroner Michael Moyle, it's not clear whether death was caused by sepsis or very high levels of the painkiller Tramadol.

Mr Moyle said he did not wish to indicate Ms Butterfield had knowingly taken an overdose, and was satisfied doctors had done all they could.
