Settrey inquest

by isleofman.com 3rd May 2007
A verdict of accidental death has been recorded at the inquest of a 51 year old Port Erin woman.

Susan Settrey was found dead in the bath last month by her teenage son.

A post mortem revealed the cause of death was due to acute alcoholic intoxication.

According to a statement from her brother, Mrs Settrey had a history of unsuccessful treatment for alcoholism and he thought it a disgrace the health service couldn't afford to man a unit built specifically for that purpose.

Coroner Michael Moyle said he shared the concerns of Mrs Settrey's brother, and said when he heard politicians talking about 'a caring society', he couldn't help thinking, 'caring for whom?'.
