Hope of low-cost airlines

The extension of the runway at Isle of Man Airport may trigger interest in flying here among the low-cost airlines.

The plan for a Ronaldsway runway extension is in the spotlight in Keys today - with Onchan MHK Peter Karran due to query the basis on which the entire project is based.

Mr Karran claimed miscalculations have been made - and suggested the ?40 million scheme may not be needed.

But speaking on last night's Agenda programme, Chief Minister Tony Brown said the crews on many low-cost flights require a longer runway:
