Mount Murray artefacts

The Director of Manx National Heritage is delighted to have received the artefacts unearthed in the Time Team dig at Mount Murray.

Stephen Harrison says the hotel's owner, Albert Gubay, wasn't legally obliged to hand them over as they aren't treasure trove.

The most notable items found during the excavation were a stone tablet containing ancient Ogham script and the skeleton of a 6th Century Celtic woman, complete with part of her plaited hair.

The hair has been described by Time Team's Tony Robinson as a "find of national importance".

Mr Harrison has praised Mr Gubay's decision to give the relics to the Manx Museum:
