CCTV monitors for TT

by isleofman.com 26th April 2007
Police are warning they’ll have their eyes wide open during this year’s centenary TT – with the Island’s first monitored CCTV system.

Cameras along the prom will watch the expected crowds at this year’s festival, and officers will be sat at screens to spot and catch troublemakers.

The system is on loan from the Home Office and although it’s been used here before at the British-Irish Council meeting, this will be its public debut.

Chief Inspector Carolyn Kinrade says local people are usually behind any violence and disorder in TT week but this year, she hopes the cameras will deter street crime.
