A 20 year old man who assaulted the licensee of the Royal Hotel in Peel has been bailed by the High Bailiff for sentence.

Matthew David Joseph Prendergast of Church Lane, Peel, admitted that he headbutted Alan Mitchell in the toilets of the hotel.

Inspector Richard Power said the defendant was asked to leave by Mr Mitchell because he was getting drunk. Prendergast said he was going to the toilet, and he was followed by Mr Mitchell who was then headbutted without warning.

He sustained severe swelling to his face and left eye and received hospital treatment

Prendergast was bailed until May 15th with a condition not to enter on-licence premises.
