Reaction to hotel school closure

Students and staff at the International Hotel School in Douglas are facing an uncertain future after the school's abrupt closure earlier today.

Around 100 students have been told they must leave the Island within 28 days. Some are likely to seek places on similar courses in the UK where their visas remain valid.

The School also employed upwards of 25 people - whose jobs may have disappeared.

Meanwhile Immigration officials here are considering whether the 28 day period could be extended - to prevent the students' leaving at the start of TT fortnight.

Theo Fleurbaay is Chairman of the Manx Hospitality Partnership.

He says the writing has been on the wall that the School was in difficulty:
