Caulfield fined on gun charge

by isleofman.com 25th April 2007
A man who made use of provoking behaviour by firing pellets from a BB gun has been fined ?500 by the High Bailiff.

19 year old Daniel Thomas Caulfield of Fairfield Terrace, Douglas, was firing the pellets at chimney pots in Bucks Road, Douglas, at 12.25pm on April 10th from his window.

A woman witness felt something whizz past her face. She was shaken and frightened and saw pellets on the ground. Police were called and the defendant, who was seen in the window, was arrested.

His advocate said Caulfield only bought the gun that day and he was doing target practice by aiming at chimney pots across the road. The pellets ricocheted and he was very sorry.

Mr Moyle said he would accept that the defendant was aiming at chimney pots.
