Florrie Forde night

by isleofman.com 20th April 2007
The delights of music hall star Florrie Forde will come to the Manx Museum this evening (Friday).

Manx National Heritage is hosting a special event to enjoy both on the big screen as well as live, courtesy of a tribute from local actress Val Kissack.

There’ll be a screening of Forde’s 1930s film, Say it With Flowers, followed by musical renditions of some of her well known songs.

Forde was the star attraction on the Island for many summer seasons at the start of the century, up until the outbreak of World War Two.

She used to entertain holidaymakers and locals alike at the Derby Castle Ballroom

During her summer stays, she would live at her Niarbyl bungalow.
