Airport emergency

A full emergency emergency operation at Isle of Man Airport swung into action this evening - after the pilot of an inbound flight reported a potential undercarriage problem.

Roads in the area were closed during rush hour as emergency services rushed to the scene - as the airport's own fire crews stood-by.

The crew of the Eastern Airways Jetstream, inbound from Birmingham, raised the alert around six or seven minutes before the aircraft was due in.

The plane, carrying a total of 21 people, landed without incident.

Airport Director Anne Reynolds says it was a busy time - and everyone there could see an emergency procedure was underway:
