Change to settlement requirements

by isleofman.com 18th April 2007
From the start of May, anyone who makes a permanent move to the Isle of Man will have to prove they know about our laws, politics and traditions!

In line with new settlement requirements in the United Kingdom, the rules will be introduced on May 8th.

People seeking an indefinite stay here will have to pass a Citizenship Test, which will establish their knowledge of the Island and their ability to understand English, or undertake a course about English and Citizenship.

Anyone who fails the test will not have to leave the Island immediately, and will be given time in which to pass the test or course.
