Hyperbaric equipment lies idle

A specialist piece of kit donated to the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber is still not being offered to patients - because there's nowhere suitable to house it.

An Oxygen Environment Chamber - donated by a Russian company as thanks for expertise offered by the Island's Hyperbaric team - is currently languishing in its crate.

It's a 'total environment' and is suitable for those who have had head or neck surgery and are unable to wear an oxygen mask - as required in the main hyperbaric chamber.

The Chamber's David Downie says with funds already stretched to the limit - finding space for the facility is proving a real headache:
