Tynwald today

by isleofman.com 17th April 2007
Members of Tynwald gather today (Tues) for this month's sitting of the Court.

A public housing scheme, school extension and road safety petition are among the issues forming the basis of motions.

Members will also consider two important reports - and hear a statement from the Chief Minister on the Electoral Register.

Marian Kenny reports:

A review of the electoral register ordered after the general election will be presented by Tony Brown.

Before that, members will consider a report from the Treasury's Value for Money committee - which aims to ensure efficient control of public finances.

There's also a report from the British-Irish interparliamentary body.

A motion to secure more than 4 and a half million pounds to replace and renew homes at Janet's Corner will be put forward - while more than a third of a million is sought to finish work on the Medway block at Ramsey Grammar school.

North Douglas member Bill Henderson calls on the Department of Transport to re examine road safety issues at Park Avenue - and he wants Tynwald to pledge financial assistance to those in nursing homes.
