by isleofman.com 18th April 2007
Royal Navy Bomb disposal personnel have carried out a controlled explosion of an unexploded mortar round.

The 2? inch shell was found on Saturday morning at the delivery yard of Bushy's brewery at the Hop garden in Santon.

Navy officers arrived on the scene around 7 o'clock this morning, and the device was made safe shortly afterwards.

The cordon and exclusion zone have now been removed and the area returned to normal.

Police have thanked the general public, Civil Defence and Coastguard Services for their assistance in the matter.
