Fielding spared jail

by isleofman.com 16th April 2007
A teenager has been granted a 12 month conditional discharge after admitting using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

Daniel Thomas Fielding of Jurby was involved in an incident close to Market Square in Ramsey on December the 16th.

Police were dealing with another situation when Fielding tried to intervene. He was described as drunk, and when asked to leave the area, he punched a boarded-up window at the Ellan Vannin Hotel.

His advocate said the defendent had 'knocked' the window because he was trying to get the attention of his father, who was in the pub, and his behaviour was not helped by his alcohol intake.

But the Deputy High Bailiff said Fielding's actions in trying to interfere with the work of the police, were deliberate.
