A 24 year old has been fined ?350 for abusing police officers in a Douglas take-away.

James Stephen Cosgrove of Watterson Lane, admitted being drunk and disorderly and possessing cannabis resin.

Cosgrove was arrested just before midnight on March the 24th at the Golden Gate takeaway in Willaston, where officers were making a purchase.

Cosgrove was abusive and made personal comments about them buying food, which led to his arrest.

At Police Headquarters a tiny piece of cannabis was found, which Cosgrove said was his and for his own use.

In sentencing, Alistair Montgomery told him it was now known that cannabis had significant harmful side effects and advised him against using it.
