Row over Medical Recommendations Committee

by isleofman.com 12th April 2007
An MHK says he's astonished that a new committee set up to recommend Health Service treatments, will NOT include members of the Isle of Man Medical Society.

The Society has refused to co-operate with the Medical Recommendations Committee - which is now to go ahead without them.

Michael MHK David Cannan says the committee will make vital decisions over the health care offered to the public - and it should not proceed without the medics on board.

Pam Crowe MLC is Political Member at the DHSS and will sit on the Medical Recommendations Committee.

She says it WILL include plenty of medical expertise - but it's main job is to ensure the best possible use is made of public money: (second audio clip)
