Tower refurbishment

At the ripe age of 183 the Tower of Refuge is getting a face lift.

The Department of Transport is set to commence work on the aged landmark starting next Monday, with work estimated to finish the following Friday.

Essential repairs to the Tower were carried out last June following a structural survey carried out by the Department's Design Division.

The construction will involve the excavation of a new approach to the Tower as well as preparation for a new jetty to facilitate the ongoing maintenance.
