GBH - jailed for 15 months

by isleofman.com 11th April 2007
A 24 year old man has been jailed for 15 months after admitting inflicting grievous bodily harm to a man in Port Erin last April.

Dylan Williamson of The Promenade, punched his victim, 17 year old Michael Watterson, twice, fracturing both his cheeks.

Kate Skinner reports:

The court was told Williamson had been goaded into punching Watterson because he had 'mouthed off' in front of children at a barbeque earlier.

Williamson's advocate Ailish Hannan told the court he did not intend serious harm but had been reckless, drinking and getting into an arguement.

Two days earlier police had received a complaint from Williamson that Mr Watterson had driven a motorbike on grass in front of his flat, causing distress to his baby.

Miss Hannan urged for a suspended supervision order but Acting Deemster Alistair Montgomery said there were no grounds to suspend the sentence.
