Castletown traders 'deserve praise'

by isleofman.com 10th April 2007
Castletown shop owners are facing frustrating times - but deserve praise for continuing to promote themselves - and the town.

That's according to the Chairman of Commissioners Tony Mansell, as concern continues to grow over the lack of progress on the Callows Yard project

There have been high hopes the ?13 million scheme would rejuvenate the town centre, bring in more shoppers and improve trading prospects.

But work remains on hold, after the site was shut down ‘indefinitely’ over continuing issues with the Health and Safety Inspectorate.

Tony Mansell has told the monthly board meeting he was encouraged to see shopkeepers take a positive stance and hoped the Callows Yard impasse would be resolved soon.
