Lord Bishop prepares for final Island Easter

by isleofman.com 8th April 2007
The Lord Bishop Graeme Knowles is preparing for his last Easter service in the Isle of Man.

It'll take place at St German's Cathedral in Peel this morning (Sunday).

Bishop Knowles will leave the Dioscese of Sodor and Man in the autumn to take up the high profile post of Dean of St Paul's in London.

His Easter message to the Manx people draws parallels between the Christian message - and the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery (audio file attached):

Earlier this morning, several dozen worhsippers joined together for the traditional Sunrise Service on Douglas Head. The backdrop - a stunning pink sunrise.

The ad hoc congregation sang Easter hymns with music from the Salvation Army band, and were addressed by members of the local clergy.
