Braddan will explain sacking

by isleofman.com 5th April 2007
Braddan Commissioners say they will give their former clerk Charles 'Buster' Lewin a full explanation for their decision to dismiss him.

Mr Lewin was apparently baffled by his sacking on grounds of serious misconduct last week.

And his union, the Transport and General, has since written to the local authority raising concern that the employers' Code of Conduct was ignored.

The T and G says Mr Lewin should have been suspended rather than summarily dismissed and has asked for a meeting for the matter to be discussed with all interested parties.

That request has been turned down by Braddan, who say they took legal advice before sacking their clerk - and confirm they are aware of the code of conduct.

The Commissioners must give their reasons for the dismissal within 14 days - and say they will do so after meeting their advocate next Tuesday.

Meanwhile Mr Lewin has three months to lodge a formal request for an employment tribunal.
