Griffith - conditional discharge

A man who appeared for sentence on charges of theft has been granted a two year conditional discharge by the High Bailiff.

Thomas Dwight Griffith of Arbory Street, Castletown, admitted three offences of stealing wage packets from his place of employment - the Whitestone public house in Ballasalla - in November and January of this year.

Griffiths was arrested at his home on January 23rd. He admitted stealing the packets and said he had financial difficulties. His advocate said the offences were committed out of desperation. It had been a low value theft resulting from poor industrial relationship with his employer.

Mr Moyle ordered Griffiths to pay compensation of ?123
