Malarkey has taxi plan

A South Douglas MHK says he'll persist with his proposals to amend the 2001 Road Transport Act.

Bill Malarkey's Private Members' Bill to appoint a Tynwald member as Chairman of the Road Traffic Licensing Committee was defeated by 13 votes to 10.

There's been a long running dispute over the number of licences issued and the availability of taxis at the weekend.

Despite the bill's defeat, Mr Malarkey still believes it'd help resolve the problems:
