Escort savings by DHSS

The Health Minister believes large savings could be made by a review of off-island travel costs.

According to Eddie Teare, criteria for escorts accompanying patients to United Kingdom hospitals needs to be enforced.

It could save the department around two hundred thousand pounds a year.

Mr Teare says paying for friends and family to travel with people receiving treatment is of great help in difficult and trying circumstances.

But he says savings need to be made:
