Quarry expansion rejected by planners

Planners meeting this morning (Fri) have fallen in line with their planning officers recommendations and rejected proposals by Island Aggregates to extend the Dreemskerry Quarry over the next 40 years.

The plan is to take the existing area of excavation from 2.15 acres to 13.15 acres.

It is thought likely the firm will appeal the decision.

However a group opposed to the plans, the Dreemskerry Action Group, say the result of the meeting this moring was entirely justified. Their spokeswoman is Elaine Murray, who lives in Maughold:
