Braddan sacking 'mishandled'

The sacking by Braddan Commissioners of their clerk, Charles Lewin, was badly mishandled.

That is the verdict of Mr Lewin's trade union the Transport and General Workers - which accuses the Commissioners of ignoring long-established dismissal procedures.

Earler this week Commissioners' Chairman Margaret Hodge insisted they acted properly in sacking Mr Lewin on the grounds of serious misconduct.

But the T and G's Bernard Moffatt (left) says a Code of Practice drawn-up by the DTI - giving employees safegaurds - appears to have been ignored.

He says whatever the alleged misdemeanour - Braddan has not acted fairly:
